Zoo Day

We went to the zoo for the second time this year with Conner's preschool. This picture was taken in the petting zoo area - Conner made friends with the goats pretty quickly. His favorite animal at the zoo was the jaguar and he seemed to have the most fun petting/harassing the goats. It was a great day, the weather was perfect, and a lot of the animals were out that day - more than I've ever seen at the Phoenix Zoo.

Big Year-Old!

Conner thinks he is old enough to do just about anything now because he is a "big year-old". Turning 5 on February 1st was definately a big deal to him. He had a Batman birthday party, which was a blast, but I think we'll rotate having parties every other year...a room full of kids his age is quite a bit to handle. We had his party on a Saturday and his real birthday was on Sunday - he was not very happy about this...celebrating his "fake" birthday and then having his real birthday, but he got over it pretty quickly. On his "real" birthday, he wanted to know the exact minute he was born, so we had a coutdown that day until he officially turned 5!

Snow Day

Believe it or not, this is in Tempe, AZ. Conner got to experience snow this year in January at his preschool. A large truck came and dumped a pile of snow for the kids to play in. He was a bit hesitant at first (as he always is), but within 15 minutes he was throwing snow balls and sliding down the pile of snow.

Life Can Get Crazy

Okay, so I've been slacking on my blogging duties and with keeping in touch with everyone. I am going to post several things that have happened over the past few months...the dates will be completely wrong, but at least you'll know what we've been up to. 2009 has been busier than ever and a bit exhausting, but we have been taking time to have some fun.

Zoolights

Last weekend, we went to the Phoenix Zoo for Zoolights - Sean and I have taken Conner there twice in the past, but didn't get a chance to go last year, so he doesn't really remember it. During the winter, they open certain sections of the zoo at night and decorate it with thousands of lights. We got there right as it opened and were waiting for my Mom, Amy, and Bailey to get there. We walked around half of the open path and Conner just wasn't having any fun at all - no matter how hard we tried or how fascinated he really was with the lights. However, as soon as Bailey got there, it suddenly became fun. They took off walking along the path holding hands! I'm so glad that they have each other. Conner gets so bored as an only child and I guess sometimes Mommy and Daddy just aren't fun enough. In the end, I think we all had a great time and Conner had a blast!

New Year's Bike Ride

Conner recently learned to ride his bike (without training wheels)! For someone who is so picky about getting dirty, I never thought he's be such a daredevil! He likes to ride on the bumpy side of the road, ramp over small hills of dirt, and goes straight through the mud puddles. He's already talking about saving up his money so that he can buy a ramp...yes, a ramp! I'm not sure that I can handle this! We went for a long bike ride around our boon docks neighborhood on New Year's. It was a lot of fun and it's great to have an exercise partner!
